The Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) is the not-for-profit organization that represents all Full-Time and Part-Time Undergraduate Students at the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC) and provides to its members a broad range of advocacy work, services, and events. The Student Centre is operated by SCSU and serves as the central hub of student life and services in the UTSC community. We are in search of dedicated efficient employees to work at the SCSU Food Centre, one of SCSU’s equity service centres. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

The SCSU is your elected student body, representing all 14,000 students at the University of Toronto Scarborough. In alignment with SCSU’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, this position of WUSC Student Coordinator was created in response to the growing need in our community to develop programming and advocacy for our WUSC student communities. 

The WUSC coordinator will be working with the Vice President External to raise awareness about the World University Services of Canada – wusc.ca. WUSC is a Canadian non-profit organisation dedicated to improving education, employment, and empowerment opportunities for underprivileged youth, women, and refugees around the world. The coordinator will also be responsible for providing support to the WUSC Student(s). 

  • Must complete a minimum of six (6) office hours a week. 

  • Attend mandatory weekly meetings with the Vice President External under the supervision of the Vice President External, Vice President Operations and Executive Director. 

  • Chair of the SCSU WUSC Local Committee. 

  • Assist the Vice President External with all administrative matters related to the WUSC Program at UTSC 

  • Perform all preparatory actions needed for the new refugee student 

  • Provide one on one support to new and current refugee students on a frequent basis 

  • Supervise and work along with WUSC volunteers, directors, and members of the WUSC Local Committee to increase the profile of the WUSC program. 

  • Represent the WUSC Local Committee at external events, meetings, and conferences related to WUSC 

  • Is responsible for reporting all accomplishments and hours of work to the VP External, the Executive Director and the Vice President Operations on a bi-weekly basis, with all projects and work assigned. 

  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President External 

  • Complete at least 3 hours of assigned outreach per week.
