Academic Restrictions Must not be taking more than 1.5 Credits, and must be registered in a Full-Time Undergraduate Degree Program at UTSC
Recognizing that the Vice-Presidents’ functions embrace a broad range of roles and responsibilities, it is important to note that not all functions are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever changing and adaptive. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Applicants should refer to the SCSU Bylaws and Policies for an extensive list of duties and responsibilities.
Internal & Operational:
Operate in accordance with the SCSU By-laws and Policies.
Maintain a minimum of thirty-five (35) office hours a week.
Operate in accordance with the SCSU By-laws and Policies.
Develop goals & objectives in consultation with the Executive Committee.
Undergo Equity training within three months of being elected.
In conjunction with the President, ensure all Executives undergo Anti-Oppression training within the first three months.
To complete regular reports to be submitted to the Board of Directors.
Attend all meetings of the board of directors, the executive committee.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the President, Executive Committee, Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
Follow operating budget restrictions as established by the Finance Committee and the Vice-President Operations.
Protect the property of SCSU at all times.
Supervisory:
Ensure the accessibility, inclusivity and quality of all SCSU services and events.
Establish and coordinate Equity training workshops for all officers of the corporation and voting directors of the board of directors as well as students.
In consultation with the vice president operations, ensure all coordinators and volunteers are familiar and understand applicable equity and inclusivity principles and policies.
Shall be responsible for ensuring that all activities and endorsements of the board reflect the oppressive Mandate of the Union.
Oversee and facilitate the racialized students Collective membership, meetings and activities.
Shall be responsible for ensuring that all directors, Executives and staff receive anti-oppression training within 5 months of the elected term.
Advocacy:
Promote equity, diversity and inclusivity goals of the organization.
Shall promote the Board's initiative and activities that aim to raise of awareness of discrimination on campus and in the community.
Shall be responsible for observing all activities of the board and those supported by the board to ensure that they are not exclusionary or discriminatory in nature and address any problems as they arise.
Shall act as the official liaison between the union and the relevant University organizations, offices and departments dedicated to the awareness and elimination of discrimination.
Shall represent the union when issues regarding discrimination and Equity or raised in the utsc community and need to be addressed.
Shall work with the Vice-President External in conjunction with the executive committee to develop political and Equity base campaigns.
Operational:
Shall represent the Union on relevant UTSC committees and task forces concerning the use of University space, security, and admissions.
Shall participate as a voting member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Policy and By-Laws Committee, Clubs Committee, Campaigns and Equity Commissions and Events Commissions.
Shall be an ex-officio non-voting member of all other Committees and Commissions of the Union except the Elections and Appeals Committee, Committees and Commissions where there exists a conflict of interest.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Exhibit a high level of professionalism and experience in a leadership position.
Must have a strong equity framework rooted in anti-racist and anti-colonial practices.
Proficient in working with Google Drive Applications, effective in internet researching and e-mail etiquette.
Professional, accountable, self-motivated and able to work with a team and with minimal supervision.
Superior verbal and written skills are an asset for presenting and communicating reports.
