Academic Restrictions Must not be taking more than 1.5 Credits, and must be registered in a Full-Time Undergraduate Degree Program at UTSC
Recognizing that the Vice-Presidents’ functions embrace a broad range of roles and responsibilities, it is important to note that not all functions are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever changing and adaptive. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Applicants should refer to the SCSU Bylaws and Policies for an extensive list of duties and responsibilities.
Internal & Operational:
Operate in accordance with the SCSU By-laws and Policies.
Maintain a minimum of thirty-five (35) office hours a week.
Operate in accordance with the SCSU By-laws and Policies.
Oversee and facilitate the Outreach & Marketing team membership, meetings and activities.
Ensure the development and implementation of all Union events, on or off campus, which include tri-campus events.
Protect the property of SCSU at all times.
Maintain regular office hours.
To complete regular reports to be submitted to the Board of Directors.
Attend all meetings of the board of directors, the executive committee.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the President, Executive Committee, Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
Follow operating budget restrictions as established by the Finance Committee and the Vice-President Operations.
Protect the property of SCSU at all times.
Communication:
Effectively publicize SCSU and UTSC activities and events to the student body.
Shall be responsible for working with the Senior Graphic Designer to ensure the timely and regular advertising of all events.
Seek effective and innovative ways to communicate to the UTSC student population.
Maintain a constructive relationship with the UTSC campus and community.
Maintaining All-Clubs emails and contact information.
Shall develop, recommend and present the SCSU Events Calendar to the Board.
Supervisory:
Ensure that the part-time staff coordinators fulfill the requirements of their position, including but not limited to the Orientation Coordinators, and the Outreach & Marketing Coordinator.
In the absence of any part-time staff coordinator, carry out the duties of their position.
Ensure all part-time staff coordinators and their volunteers are familiar with, understand, and adhere to all SCSU Bylaws and policies.
In conjunction with the Executive Director and Operations Coordinator evaluate Student Centre and Club Events and provide a report to UTSC Risk Assessment Committee meetings for all Union events.
Advocacy (Clubs):
Serve as the primary contact for all academic and non-academic clubs at UTSC and work in consultation with the Vice-President Academics & University Affairs and the Vice-President Equity to facilitate resources and advocacy for clubs.
Shall be responsible for liaising with the Executive Committee and the Events & Programming Commission in the development of the Events Calendar to ensure that there is coordination between the events and the campaigns of the Union.
Advance campus life by utilizing all available resources for clubs through SCSU, Office of Student Experience & Well-being and UTSC.
Maintain and further develop SCSU's Clubs Funding Procedure in consultation with the Clubs Committee.
Coordinate a minimum of monthly club funding meetings to ensure reimbursement in a timely fashion.
Financial:
Work within the approved budget as established by the Board of Directors for all SCSU events.
In collaboration with the Clubs funding committee, shall be responsible for processing and keeping an accurate account of all club funding requests received and granted by the Union.
Work within the approved budget as established by the Board of Directors for Club Funding, ensuring club funding is properly managed and administered in a timely manner.
Manage all event ticket revenue; ensuring daily revenue reports are completed using the established control procedures by the Events & Membership Lead.
Operational:
In conjunction with the Operations Coordinator and Internal Coordinator, assist clubs with Student Centre Bookings.
Shall represent the Union on but not limited to relevant University committees and task forces concerning residences, food and licensing.
Shall chair the Clubs Committee and the Events & Programming Commission.
Shall participate as a voting member of the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Policy & By-Laws Committee, Clubs Committee, Sustainability Committee and the Orientation Coordinator Hiring Committee.
Shall be a voting member of the Board of Directors and all other Committees and Commissions of the Union except the Elections & Appeals Committee, Committees and Commissions where there exists a conflict of interest.
Shall attend all meetings of the Board and the Executive Committee.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Exhibit a high level of professionalism and experience in a leadership position.
Must have a strong equity framework rooted in anti-racist and anti-colonial practices.
Proficient in working with Google Drive Applications, effective in internet researching and e-mail etiquette.
Professional, accountable, self-motivated and able to work with a team and with minimal supervision.
Superior verbal and written skills are an asset for presenting and communicating reports.
