Improve student space across campus
YES. By partnering in the new sports and recreation complex, you will also trigger a dramatic increase in multi-purpose space benefit all students across campus.
Three ways space will be increased on campus:
- The new complex will add to UTSC space capacity by providing areas in the new building for student gatherings, places to study, hold meetings, as well as host events and functions. In fact, the facility would serve as a vital new social hub for campus life.
- With all athletic programming moving to the new complex, the current Athletics & Recreation Centre is freed for renovations and new uses, making possible new links to other buildings like the Student Centre, an infusion of space for clubs and student organizations, the creation of new multi-purpose space, and more exposure for curricular or co-curricular activity in the Humanities, such as enhanced spaces for performing and visual arts.
- The sports and recreation complex is one part of a larger plan for campus redevelopment and renewal. UTSC has begun a master plan to identify a comprehensive list of priorities--ranging from new research and teaching facilities, to student residences and performance venues--that will be developed over the long term to ensure a robust and comprehensive student experience is able to thrive at UTSC. The entire campus master plan is estimated to be valued at over $750 million.
