Racialized Student Collective
The Racialized Students’ Collective is an Equity Service Centre which seeks to combat racism and colonialism with and for Racialized, Black and Indigenous students. The RSC is both a group and a physical space that serves to provide a safer space for Black, Indigenous and racialized students on campus.
FACTS & STATS:
- 10% of First Nations and Inuit people hold a university degree, compared to 23% of the overall Canadian population (Statistics Canada 2006)
- 33% of Canadian Muslims reported experiencing discrimination due to their religion or ethnicity (Environics 2016)
- Members of the Collective organize monthly events shedding light upon current issues that black, racialized and indigenous students face.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
Visit us during Fall and Winter semester in SL 210B (second floor of the Student Centre, around the corner from the Women & Trans Centre), here are our hours:
Monday through Thursday:
12pm – 3pm and 5pm – 7pm
12pm – 2pm
Please note that the SCSU Racialized Student Collective is closed throughout final exam period and over Summer semester.
