 | Zuhair is entering his third year pursuing a Specialist in Management (BBA) with the intention of streaming in Marketing and Strategic Management. Over the past two years, Zuhair has been involved extensively at UTSC. Hes served as Chair of the Board for the Scarborough Campus Students Union, Vice-President Finance of the Scarborough College Athletics Association, and as an undergraduate representative of the College Council. He's served as a Group Leader for orientation for two years straight and counting, and is actively engaged with several campus clubs and events. Zuhair is confident his experience and exposure to the campus will allow him to serve students and to lead the organization in a progressive manner. Zuhair believes there exists a fundamental lack of ownership students have over their student union and an evident lack of campus spirit. He is committed to working to enhance the student experience and to make this year a truly memorable one. He thrives on the belief that there is nothing that one can't accomplish. He challenges the student body to imagine then what we can accomplish as a united front. |  | Aisha Khaja - Vice President AcademicsAisha is a third year student in the French Concurrent Teacher Education Program, specializing in French and majoring in English. She became involved with the student union last year as the Humanities Director. Having learned a lot from the extremely talented and committed students on the union, she has decided to tackle the position of VP Academics this year. She hopes to represent the student voice at a larger level by addressing and catering to students' academic needs and concerns. She encourages students to make the most of these university years by getting involved on campus, and being aware of all that the student union has to offer. The SCSU is here to serve you, and make your experience on campus a memorable one. With this in mind, Aisha hopes to serve the student body at UTSC to the best of her ablity, and she invites students with any concerns, comments, and/or ideas. He got involved in the Student Movement to fight for an accessible, inclusive and affordable post-secondary education system. He believes that the only way we can win our battles is if we are a united student movement. | | | |  | Mohsin Jeelani - Vice President Operations and Chief Financial OfficerMohsin is entering his fourth and final year at the University of Toronto pursuing a specialist degree in Political Science. Last year was an awesome learning experience for Mohsin as he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Scarborough Campus Students' Union. During his term as Chair, he had the opportunity to work closely with the Executives and Full Time Staff of the SCSU, setting the stage for a fabulous upcoming year. Mohsin is excited about the upcoming year as there will be lots of growth, not only for the students and clubs, but also for the campus as a whole. Likewise, the SCSU will be going through tremendous changes that will make it stronger, more vibrant, and better connected with the students. Mohsin is confident he can lead the organization into the ever changing world economy and plan effectively for the many years to come as this campus grows. He is no stranger to leadership positions as in 2006 he was internationally recognized by Bentley College in Boston USA and Time Magazine as one of the top 25 future leaders of Tomorrow. Mohsin has had the opportunity to appear on CBC's Metro Morning and was also invited to the Empire Club of Canada. All these experiences have made Mohsin a stronger and better leader and have provided him with exceptional skills. Mohsin is determined to use these skills to give back to the UTSC community by making the SCSU a strong and exceptional students' union. Finally, one big project to watch out for is the new SCSU restaurant now renamed Rex's Den. Mohsin sees Rex's Den as the ultimate hang out spot for students on Campus and is greatly anticipating its projected September opening. |  | Fatih Kurt - Vice President Human ResourcesFatih is completing his fourth year as a Human Geography and Anthropology major. Throughout his extensive involvement over these past four years, he believes that he has garnered enough experience on campus to serve students faithfully and to their best interest. Many challenges lay ahead this year and Fatih plans on overcoming them through hard work and dedication. As Vice-President Human Resources, Fatih is committed to empowering our students and ensuring their success. Fatih looks forward to a great year, where several brand new student jobs will be created. John currently is a licensed sales representative for Century 21, trading in real estate. In the past John has worked as the Marketing Director and Events coordinator for Fusion Radio. Prior to that John was the Arts MC for Orientation in 2008. In his role as campus life John is responsible for overseeing events organized by the SCSU for the benefit of members and the campus such as Orientation, the Cultural Mosaic and Spring Formal. This Vice-President also advocates for improved services and resources for all clubs on campus and helps coordinate various events throughout the year. This year, John aims to provide students with a diverse variety of events and involvement opportunities on campus, create a stronger sense of community, and help student enjoy their time here at UTSC. | | Imran Khan - Chairman of the Board of DirectorsImran is entering his third year of study, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Psychology. This is his second year in the Students Union, as aspires to bring dramatic changes followed by great accomplishments. His goal for the year is to ensure a more organized and accountable board. He has a passion for helping others; he was a former cadet in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, retired as a Master Warrant Officer. Imran's friendly nature serves to make him a respectful and amiable individual, and his remarkable characteristics are what make him a great student leader. | | | Pagalavan Thavarajah - Vice-Chairman of the Board of DirectorsPagalavan is a forth year student finishing his specialist in Human Biology. A renewed discovery in student advocacy has pulled him back into involving himself on a bigger scale. From working with individual clubs and assisting in events to his active participation in promoting and supporting the advocacy issues of his fellow students. He realized he needed to help foster a greater sense of vocal curiosity, discovery, unity and individuality. By working as a member of the SCSU with a team of hardworking and determine visionaries he believe this can be done. A person that students can trust and a helpful hand in any situation, he continues to hold his fellow students and their wishes in high regard. |
