The Scarborough Campus Students’ Union is your elected student body, representing all students at the University of Toronto Scarborough. It successfully manages the Student Centre and owns Rex's Den Restaurant, the new UTSC pub and restaurant. It advocates on behalf of students on such issues as the cost of education, campus safety, and academic standards.
The SCSU also provides important services, such as club funding, discount TTC Metropasses, and the annual Anti-Calendar. In short, it has a huge impact on the lives of every student of UTSC. The Board of Directors and Executives form the Student Union's core and they are the group that is working at continuously further expanding the broad range of advocacy work, events and services that are provided to all our full-time and part-time UTSC student members. The Board of Directors is, simply put, the highest and final authority of the SCSU. It is composed of 19 voting positions (17 elected in March, 2 First Year Representatives elected in October) and 3 hired, non-voting positions. The Board of Directors controls the SCSU. Although the Board does not make decisions about what colour banners will be advertising the next event... theoretically it could.
