Board of Directors Meetings

The Board of Directors is, simply put, the highest and final authority of the SCSU. It is composed of 19 voting positions (17 elected in March, 2 First Year Representatives elected in October) and 3 hired, non-voting positions. The Board of Directors controls the SCSU. Although the Board does not make decisions about what colour banners will be advertising the next event... theoretically it could.

The Board of Directors makes significant decisions for the organization, and the Executives and people working with them are responsible for translating those Broad decisions into specific actions, events, campaigns, etc. These individuals then report to the Board so that they can see what has been done. The Board drastically out-numbers the voting Executive, as it should. So even if the President and all the Vice-Presidents want to do one thing and the Board wants to do another, the Board will always win.

The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board are the people who act as go-between for the Board and the Executive. Chosen by the incoming Board each March, these are paid positions that require a higher time commitment. They run the meetings, help maintain the internal organization of the structure, and act as the voice of the Board on the Executive Committee.

All meetings take place in the Student Centre, room SL-232 from 5 to 9pm unless otherwise stated. Some free food is provided to all students in attendance.
