Students generally enjoyed this course and found Professor Cowan to be enthusiastic and approachable. However, it was noted that his lectures could have been better structured. Further, students felt that an excessive number of novels were assigned while an insufficient amount of time was actually spent analyzing the texts. Nonetheless, students appreciated the professor's use of micro-themes, the feedback he provided on assignments, and class discussions.
