Students felt that Professor Kingston was very fast paced. He had a way of lecturing that would touch on many topics in an order that was somewhat confusing. However, an overwhelming number of students appreciated Paul Kingston's very knowledgeable and enthusiastic nature. There was a split between students who really enjoyed and appreciated the tutorials and the TAs, and those who felt the tutorials had little value to their learning experience and that the TAs did not do a sufficient job in aiding them in their success in the course. Students would comment on the kind of discussions that took place in tutorials and valued active participation. Also, students commented that they would appreciate an outline of the lecture to be available on the intranet.

Professor Kingston is an enthusiastic professor whose interest for the material he teaches comes across in his lectures. He used good and recent examples but some felt that the lectures were a bit disorganized at times. Some students are concerned about the time management in this course because the professor frequently ran out of time during the lectures. Many felt that there was too much reading for a half course. Some enjoyed the discussion that took place in the lectures. It is suggested that more feedback be provided on returned tests and essays within a reasonable time so that students can do better work and improve their grades. In general, an interesting course.

Students have a great regard for Professor Kingston (many familiar with him from previous courses) and enjoy his courses. Several comment this course was more theoretical than they expected and a few expressed disappointment that it was not more topical given recent world events. Students also note that Professor Kingston is deeply knowledgeable in this area but at times they felt the depth of his knowledge took the class beyond their ability to follow.
