Most students in this course responded quite well to Professor Boughn's knowledge in this area, and rightly inferred that this has become a bit of a signature course for him. Some felt that his prepared notes were an advantage and a sign of organization while others felt the lectures felt too scripted at times. A number of students referenced the size of the class as a problem and suggested either smaller classes or else tutorial sections, but also allowed that Professor Boughn made the best of it and even tried to engage in class dialogue. Many noted that a lot of class time was devoted to the historical context literature without any indication if this would be tested (apparently not) but many also suggested this was among the most interesting content. A couple students noted this course is especially interesting to anyone intending to teach elementary school or work with children.

Students in this course were generally positive about the instruction and the material covered. A number of students observed that the pace of the course was sometimes a bit fast for them. Some students felt that the late scheduling of the course and the length of the lectures (7-10pm) were a detriment. Others noted that there was a great deal of reading covered, and went on to emphasize that this is 'not a bird course.'

Most students thoroughly enjoyed this course and felt Professor Boughn kept it interesting for them, though some suggest the volume of reading what too high and others felt that course expectations were not clear. To quote one student: "Boughn's passion for the subject matter rekindled my love for science fiction and cyberpunk that had been previously beaten down by English teachers' general disregard for it as not worthy of study." While this might not be fair to other professors of English it does capture Professor Boughn's ability to generate interest and inspiration in this area of study.

Students spoke highly of Professor Boughn's passion and interest in the subject matter. One slight draw back of this was that some felt he got too carried away with the course material at times and could go too in depth spending long periods of time on a single poem. Overall, a very enjoyable class.
