Students had no concerns with Professor Moore as a lecturer and reserved their comments for the administration of the course. A few commented that 8am is really just too early for a math course (or probably any course) and that the time of the lecture affected their ability to perform well or pay attention. Opinions were split on the value of weekly quizzes vs. assignments at keeping up with the material. But almost all agree the course was valuable and gave them what they need out of first year calculus.

Students expressed concern that Professor Moore’s handwriting was difficult to read and suggested that he use a microphone while speaking. They also found that the pace of the course was too slow, with tutorials described as ineffective with too many quizzes. It was also suggested that the professor spend more time on examples in lectures and use more enthusiasm while teaching. However, many students were pleased that the exams were graded in a short period of time.

Students found Professor Moore to be genuinely passionate about teaching. However, some students felt his lectures were somewhat confusing and that he should have used more examples as well as a microphone. They would also have appreciated it had Professor Moore used a microphone and had they been given a break midway through lectures.

Students expressed a variety of concerns in this course, most notably that course work presupposed knowledge of certain computer programs they might not be familiar with and included no instructions for use. There was also the oft-repeated concern, regarding mathematics, that problems covered in class did not reflect the level of expectation on examinations. Also several students commented on Professor Moore's writing (see other Anti-Calendar entries) they also gave him credit for making conscientious efforts towards improvement.
