Professor Hasenkampf was very enthusiastic with the course materials and explained to students in a very thorough, yet fast-paced manner. Students felt that more time could be spent explaining more complex aspects of the course and that Professor Hasenkampf could do more to become approachable to students. The labs, although sometimes fun, were found to be ineffective and time consuming. Labs could become more relevant by highlighting what is in the course curriculum and what was taken up in the lectures. Laboratory reports should be marked and handed back before the submission of the next one to enable students to see their mistakes and correct them.

Professor Hasenkampf used very detailed models and examples to communicate the information during her lecture. Students felt that the content of the lecture should be provided before the class either online or in the library. The use of the study guide really benefited students and the book was deemed useful as well. Students felt that the lab should have a higher mark weight to correspond to the work that is required.

Most students found the labs in this course to be very interesting and a great way to apply the course material, although some found them to be too lengthy and suggested improvements to make them more organized and structured. Some found that the teaching assistants did not provide sufficient guidance regarding the lab experiments and grading schemes. Many students also indicated interest in learning more molecular techniques during the labs. Many commented on the use of Powerpoint slides in some lectures. Most of the class noted that the use of overheads and the blackboard throughout class made the lectures more interactive. Regarding the midterm exam, students indicated preference for more short answer questions rather than multiple-choice questions that are worth a lot of points. Nevertheless, most students noted Professor Hasenkampf's high level of enthusiasm and energy. Many found her to be helpful and approachable. In the words of a student, 'The Professor'made it worthwhile to come [to lecture] at 8 am in the morning.'
