Some students had trouble understanding expectations in this course and felt their assignments were insufficiently explained. There seems to be a wide discrepancy in reactions towards tutorials and TAs suggesting some were significantly more helpful to students. A few students were not happy with the midterm and felt it did not test the material fairly. Most found Professor Price to be an enthusiastic and effective lecturer, though a few students add he has a habit of standing in front of the projector at inconvenient times.

Students found Professor Price to be an excellent lecturer, who showed great enthusiasm and knowledge of the materials. However, it was felt that the text book should be more reflective of the course materials, that lecture notes should be available in digital format, and that there should be more continuity between lectures and practicals. Overall students were happy with their experience in the course.

This course was described by many as insightful, intriguing, and thought provoking. The students believed that the professor taught with enthusiasm and did not limit himself to teaching ""just the overheads"". Even though this was an excellent experience for the students the lack of online overheads was a concern for many.

Most students found the course to be very enjoyable. Professor Gipp's online lecture notes were very helpful. Many felt that they would have preferred the course to be offered at an earlier time slot (currently 7 - 10 pm). Some students also found it hard to contact the professor via email. The course's assignment helped lighten the pressure from the midterm and final.

Students commended Professor Gipp as a good lecturer, humorous, and enthusiastic about the topics. He was also knowledgeable about the subject; even though students complained that he did not really reply to their emails, he was generally nice to students and was patient in answering their questions. The length of the class was, again, a source of major dissatisfaction. Students felt it was hard to concentrate for three hours, especially at the 7-10 timeslot, and that the professor could have condensed the material into a two-hour class. Despite the professor's efforts, many thought the lectures to be slow. Some also felt the professor spoke too fast. Others, however, were able to find the lectures interesting and thought the professor's lecture style organized, clear, and easy to follow. Many complaints were made towards the midterm(s). Students found them unexpectedly difficult, some questions being too specific, and in general not an accurate reflection of course material. Nevertheless, most students enjoyed the course and found the material interesting.

Students generally liked the Professor and found him friendly and enthusiastic. They commended him on being approachable and willing to help students. Some students found the readings and materials a bit of a burden. Lectures were informative and notes were useful, however some students found them boring and fast-paced. The use of "clickers" was not popular among the class since some students were having trouble with them. Regarding midterms, some students felt it shouldn't have been composed entirely of multiple-choice questions; some also mentioned that it tested them on materials that were neither in the textbook nor in the lectures; some thought it was too detailed. Students generally enjoyed assignments and seemed to like the in-class short essays. Even though some found the course difficult, most students agreed that it was a good course.

The greatest complaint for this class was the length of the lecture: a total of three hours. Students expressed that even though the professor was enthusiastic and humorous, and gave great examples that relates to the topic, many couldn't help finding it a bit slow. Other than that, most students liked the in-class assignments and the organized lecture notes. The course material itself was interesting, though a few thought it too broad and too advanced for an A level course. The midterm seemed to be difficult for some students but some also thought it was fair. Assignments were seen as interesting and relatively easy. In general, students enjoyed the learning experience and found the course interesting.

Many students comment that the three-hour length of this course and the 7-10pm timeslot made it difficult for them to concentrate. Students also did not like the 35% and 65% weighting of the midterm and final, suggesting it created excessive pressure, and report they were not always clear what to expect on tests. Still, students credit Professor Gipp with making the most of difficult material and they appreciated him as an instructor.

Students in this course had various concerns relating to the format of the lecture, and felt that a single long lecture session was detrimental to the course, suggesting various alternatives to split up the content more. Some students also felt that the total grading scheme (40/60 between the midterm and final) placed too much emphasis on too narrow a form of evaluation. Quite a number commented on a lack of discipline in the classroom and felt it negatively impacted their experience.

Students suggested that more enthusiasm in the presentation of lecture would perhaps engage the class and improve the learning experience. Better control of students who choose to talk to friends in class rather than learn was also suggested as a way to enhance learning in lecture. The lecture slides in this class were of a slide show format, but students found that they would have preferred overheads.

Most students found Dr. Eyles to be an expert, professional and engaging lecturer, who made a point of ensuring that all students understood the material; several called him their favourite professor. Most found the weekly quizzes, based on required readings, helpful to their learning and a good studying tool, while a few students found them too easy or unfair. Dr. Eyles did not post his slides on the internet, requiring students to attend lectures for the full breadth of the material, but the examined material was entirely available from the readings.

Many students noted Professor Nicholas Eyles to be extremely knowledgeable, however students felt Professor Nicholas Eyles lectures lacked enthusiasm. Some students felt that the weekly quizzes were an inadequate way of measuring performance in such a large-scale class. Students felt that lack of course notes proved to be detrimental to the course and with the addition of them would improve and be beneficial to the learning experience. Overall students agree that with a strong organizational structure and clear-cut direction this course has the potential to be a favourite among students.

Students enjoyed Professor Howard's well-planned lectures and as far as those went were very happy with the course. Some found the course unreasonably difficult while others did not and a couple of students reference the high degree of scientific content and suggest that a background in this area will make a big difference. Some students also disliked the 35% midterm and 65% final grading scheme and requested grades be broken up more.

Professor Mohsin was very helpful in explaining her lecture fully. However, at times her pace went a little too fast, or she spoke too quickly for the students to understand. The students also felt that the class begins too early in the day, as well as the midterms. Also, the weekly quizzes were too easy and not very helpful, and the concept maps she used were not helpful for exams. However, most (though not all) students approved of her evaluation system, especially the large emphasis on participation.

Students found Professor Cornwell very organized with his lectures and were pleased with his overall presentation of the course. However, many students expressed that the lectures could have been a bit more interesting by adding examples and illustrations that could liven up the class. The exams fairly evaluated the course material. Students would have appreciated if Professor Cornwell had opened longer office hours, especially during exam time (midterm). Overall, students were pleased with the course and instructor and were able to apply knowledge of concepts learnt to the real world.

Students were very enthusiastic about Professor Gough and found him to be approachable, friendly, and thoroughly professional. Several students were struck by his effort to learn everyone's name even in a very large class. Students were glad to avoid the need for a text with detailed slides and prepared course materials. They were divided on their opinion regarding participation grades ' while some were motivated to earn them others felt unduly compelled to attend class or else were discouraged by their apparent arbitrariness.

Several students noted that they appreciated the grading breakdown of the course and the opportunity to do small in-class assignments on a regular basis. The vast majority of those who took this class found Dr. Arhonditsis to be an enjoyable, passionate and sometimes humourous lecturer. Many comments were made that he could be difficult to understand at times, either from his speaking pace or his accent. All agreed that the material was important to everyone, although a small number found it more scientific than they anticipated. Those who could not attend any of the 12 office hours held each week were frustrated by the 'no-email' policy, while those who did attend found his help, and his interest in their understanding, quite valuable.

Students felt the depth of Professor Wauchop's knowledge in his field but had various concerns with the execution of this course. While slides and material seemed carefully prepared for each class, lectures were based so much off those same slides they seemed redundant to some. Many students felt they weren't given an opportunity to understand the expectations of the course and found work they were doing (particularly small assignments worth 1% of the final) to be graded entirely out of proportion to the effort required. Students hoped for improvement in the future, as most respected Professor Wauchop's sincere effort and genuine enthusiasm.

According to most students Professor Cornwell was an enthusiastic lecturer, who was genuinely interested in helping students understand the material. A few suggested that he lacked a profound understanding, and sometimes was not able to answer more difficult questions. The examinations were weighted to mathematically based questions, which some felt required more worked-through examples in class or tutorial in order to be answered within the given time. A number of students suggest this course could benefit from additional work on equations either in class or out of a text. They found they were not prepared for testing on material they learned in class, as there was little opportunity to practice. Most found the tutorial useful, though some felt that was the appropriate venue for more practical experience and were disappointed they did not get it. They found Professor Cornwell credible and were not too critical of him personally but generally felt the course lacked that certain something to bring it together.

Students agreed that Professor Doughty was a good lecturer, however there were several concerns. Students felt that the course load was too heavy, and that it should be taught at a novice level, rather than for students with high levels of computer knowledge. Students also felt as if the assignments were tedious and difficult, with not enough time to complete them in the allotted tutorial slots.

Most students in this course commented that Professor Doughty was a great instructor, very knowledgeable, approachable, and almost always available for help, in his office or via e-mail. Many suggested that he speak more loudly in lectures, and a few wished for a better introduction to the language of GIS. The tutorials were valuable, but took a long time, perhaps, because they were not as clearly laid out as they could be, according to some. An unusual number commented on the necessity of a more experienced teaching assistant for the tutorials, and the need to depend on other students to complete the assignments.

Students found the subject of this course very interesting and topical and most were pleased with their progress in the area by the end. They found their instructor, Mike Doughty, to be knowledgeable, helpful, and dedicated. They were less pleased with their TA, who a number of students found was barely more versed on the subject than they were. An even larger number of students complained that too much knowledge of computers and the programs they were using was assumed and this led to confusion on their part. Despite these concerns most students were glad to have learned more in this field.

While many were intimidated by the title of this course, most found it to be of great interest and value. Dr. Fulthorpe included a poster presentation as an assignment, which students felt was good preparation for later academic or professional work. The majority of respondents spoke to Dr. Fulthorpe's vast knowledge, entertaining lecture style, genuine interest in the material and skill in helping students to cope with the challenging ideas; some felt that if the lectures themselves had a more predictable structure, they might be easier to assimilate.

Since this course had a mixture of undergraduate and graduate students, undergraduate students were not clear on what materials they're responsible for. Though students found Professor Wauchop to be a nice instructor, many felt that he could have been more adequately prepared for lectures and provided a thorough course syllabus.
