Professor Relph is enthusiastic, patient, helpful, and efficient. He was effective in communicating information in an interesting manner and it was obvious that he really enjoyed what he was teaching. Students found the material interesting and the professor easy to understand. Many appreciated his course homepage and his online lecture notes; they were detailed and helpful for studying. Also, he made good use of other related websites. Students had mixed feelings about the tutorials. Some felt they were very helpful while others felt that there could have been more structure. Some concerns included: weekly quizzes not the best type of evaluation, lack of consistency in marking methodology used by Teaching Assistants, no mark incentive for participating in the tutorials, and not enough feedback on papers and quizzes. Overall, this was an interesting course and a great professor.

While many students praised Professor Bunce's enthusiasm and organization, some students had troubles with two aspects of the class in particular: the text and tutorials. Quite a few students commented that the textbook was too much to handle and was underutilized in class. Several students remarked that more detailed notes could help in the future. Some students also stated that tutorials were largely pointless and could have been executed better. Bunce kept his class lively, however, with pop culture references.

Professor Hunter’s enthusiasm and vast knowledge of the field were praised extensively by students, who stated that his lectures were entertaining and not to be missed. The class enjoyed his humour and real-life examples, and felt that the professor was approachable and friendly. However, a major concern for students was the course’s exclusive focus on HIV/AIDS, as most would have liked to cover a wider range of diseases. Another issue concerned the multiple choice format of exams, as many students felt the requirement to memorize dates did not help them come away with a better understanding of material. Overall, however, the class enjoyed the experience and stated that the professor was one of the best on campus.

Professor Bunce is a great professor who is very understanding. He made the course fun and interesting with his very enthusiastic teaching style. The professor was very helpful with individual consultation and offered insightful comments and direction for research. He encouraged critical thinking and his ability to motivate and express strong emotion in each student's work is extremely valuable and comforting. He was always available to give guidance, help, and insight but wanted students to explore different learning methods on their own. Students appreciated the level of independent research in this course because it provided a much more solid comprehension of the course material.

Students express a lot of personal regard for Professor Mackintosh, and several comment that they have had him for multiple courses and actively seek him out. They especially praise his availability for individual consultation and his openness to discussion. This was a seminar-style class (though a large one) and most students reacted favourably to that format, feeling that it kept the class interesting and motivating. A few felt lost, however, and would have preferred more concrete lecturing.
