Professor Joordens is a personable and enthusiastic Professor who is credited as making the lecture material interesting even for those who would normally find it otherwise. The only common complaint was that the RTCP assignments were felt to be an unfair representation of knowledge due to the fact that they were being peer evaluated.

Students have a lot to say about this course. As always they approve of Professor Joordens personally, citing his energy, enthusiasm, and simple ability to keep everyone awake in a 9am lecture. Student still disapprove of the peer grading system represented by RTCP and are almost unanimous in requesting it be scrapped. Students frequently refer to the difficulty of the material with some frustration but tend not to blame this on the instruction they receive. Several students commented that tricky wording on exam questions might end up testing English comprehension more than it tests course knowledge.

Students in this web-based section of Professor Joordens. course were comfortable with the format of their learning and with the on-line experience. Apart from the general complaints with the RTCP experiment (peer grading) most were happy with the course. Students do agree with the idea behind the small, frequent writing assignments and the stated goals of training critical thinking, writing skills, etc. They see merit in the plan, but greatly dislike the peer evaluation aspect.

Students had consistently noted Prof. Fournier’s outstanding organization of lecture materials, clear explanations, fair evaluations, ability to simplify complicated concepts, and engaging classes, all of which contributed to an overall great learning experience and supported many students’ claim as one of the best university professors. A few students found the peer scholar evaluation to be unfair, would like to see more videos, a slower pace at times, and improved camera technology.

Almost all students agreed that Prof. Fournier was extremely passionate, organized, fair, easily understandable, and funny. He provided very clear expectations, interesting personal examples, simplified difficult concepts, helpful in making important points memorable and concise. Some students deemed the peer evaluation system for assignments to be unfair. Many students described Professor Ilie as engaging, friendly and attentive to student needs. However, many students also noted that the marking scheme for tests was unfairly weighted and that mid-term questions were too vague. Students also noted that lectures often went off topic, leaving little time for review. Overall, students appreciated Professor Ilies friendliness and attention to questions and concerns.

Professor Joordens was a wonderful public speaker and had an entertaining personality. His modesty helped students understand the material and feel comfortable asking questions during class. More examples of mathematical/statistical concepts would have been helpful. A break in the two-hour class would have been appreciated, despite the effective use of time. Overall, Joordens made unexciting material exciting.

There was unanimous agreement that Professor Ilie has an amazing personality and enthusiasm to teach this course. However, majority of the students in this course found the lectures to be disorganized and that the instructor addressed only the front row students in class. There was also a huge concern over an incident that happened in class where Professor Ilie addressed a student very rudely in front of 500 students (student had asked a question regarding bonus question on the midterm exam). Many felt that this should have been handled more politely. Students also thought that the exams should be more reflective of the course material. Students also would have appreciated if the full class time was used to explain all the relevant course material that would be tested. Other than that, the course in itself was very interesting.

Professor Ilie was noted as being an extremely enthusiastic and compassionate Professor however her teaching style was much more suited to smaller class sizes. She tried quite hard to include large amounts of class discussion which in smaller senior level classes is great but that didn't seem to work as well in a class of 500. Students suggested that for a class of this size that they would prefer to see a more structured learning process with fewer tangents but that they would love to take one of Professor Ilie's classes later on.

Students found the course material to be very interesting and felt that they gained a lot of knowledge from the course. However, many noted that the readings were too heavy for a 'B' level course, and the exams were difficult, owing to the amount of details that students had to learn from the textbook and the 'which of the following statements is false'? multiple-choice questions. For future, students would appreciate more overlap between the textbook and the lectures.

Students found Professor Burke to be an excellent teacher. Her enthusiasm, thorough explanations and sense of humour made the subject all the more interesting. Students, however, felt that posting lecture notes ahead of time would be of great help as they can spend more attention in class rather than taking notes. Professor Ilie was seen as a very enthusiastic and passionate instructor, who had a very strong grip in the material that she taught, hence making class discussions very engaging and interesting. Students were also delighted with the TA Val, who was there to help and also evaluated the quizzes fairly. One suggestion that a number of students pointed out was to make the lecture slides a bit less wordy and also to make more available office hours for the students for course help. The exams were fair overall, but a number of students found one question (creating culture) difficult and not of relevance to the course material. Students enjoy Professor Zakzanis, as always, and only express regret that he wasn't lecturing for several classes that were handled by graduate students instead. Many students disliked either the course text or the way readings were assigned from it, feeling that course work was badly distributed over the term. Although most students do not regret taking the course some, who are used to Professor Zakzanis from previous classes, feel as though he did not live up to his usual high standard.

Students in this on-line course reported difficulty in even assessing the effectiveness of Professor Kukla, who was simply the recorded lecturer, and had more to say about their T.A. Joel Walmsley, of whom most approved. Although some appreciated the convenience of this course others felt they were left 'out in the rain' without a professor or a class to fall back on for help.
