Many students found Professor Averbakh to be an excellent instructor, noting the clarity of his lectures. They found him to be approachable and helpful during office hours, and also enjoyed the helpful problems and examples he demonstrated in class. However some students found that the course was difficult, and found that one particular difficult question on the midterm being worth 25% of the exam was unfair. One suggestion students had for Professor Averbakh was to give a more specific outline of what was required for the assignments.

The class was described as interesting as well as challenging. Many felt that more time should have been allocated to the more difficult material presented in the second half of the course. This course was described as interesting by some and challenging by many. Students enjoyed the material before the midterm. However, the topics covered after the midterm were significantly tougher. Many felt that a solid understanding of statistics would be helpful in understanding some of the material. Students were very pleased with Professor Averbakh's detailed and organized lecture notes. They also greatly appreciated the exercises Professor Averbakh solved in class and felt that this assisted in preparing them for the evaluations in this course.

Students were generally satisfied with the instruction in this course, focusing particularly on Professor McConkey's sense of humour in the classroom. A number of students expressed concern with the use of classroom time, however, and mentioned that the class frequently started quite late.
